Arsenal Chief Flies Out To Wrap-Up Deal For Argentinean Forward
According to reports today, Arsenal contract-fixer Dick Law has flown to Argentina to try and wrap-up a deal for young striker Maxi Romero.
Reports earlier this week claimed that we were deep in talks with Velez Sarsfield after the clubs president Raul Gamez confirmed we’d made a formal offer for the talented forward.
“Arsenal have made a big offer for Maxi Romero. I don’t want to talk figures just yet but it’s a big offer.” Games said.
The potential £4.5m deal is supposedly being held up by red tape due to the players ownership rights, with an investment company believed to own a large share of his economic rights.
However, the Daily Mail claim Arsenal have now sent chief negotiator Dick Law over to Argentina to try and resolve the issues and get the deal over the line.
If we can complete the transfer, then the 16-year-old will remain with Sarsfield until he turns 18 at which point he will then join Arsenal before probably being sent out on loan.
The strikers agent, Rolando Zarate, recently confirmed that he’s met with Arsene Wenger twice in London and suggests a deal is close.
“I met with Arsene Wenger twice in London. They heard about Maxi through their scouts in South America. He is the player who has most impressed him.
“Maxi has huge potential but he is going to complete apprenticeship at a great club like Velez.”
Romero only recently signed his first professional deal but he’s highly-rated in South America and has been dubbed as the ‘new Messi’ by some over-enthusiastic newspapers.
He’s not going to make any impact on the Arsenal first team for a while but hopefully we can get a deal agreed as he sounds like he’s got a bright future ahead of him.
