‘I’m Dealing With Arsenal But Want At Least €40m’, President Confirms Talks
Palermo president Mauro Zamparini confirmed he’s in talks with Arsenal about a potential deal for Paulo Dybala but warned he wants at least €40m for the striker.
Dybala is set for a move this summer after rejecting a new deal and Arsenal are one of several clubs who’ve been strongly linked in recent months.
Outspoken Palermo president Zamparini has been speaking to the media once again over the weekend and claimed that he’s in discussions with Arsenal about a deal for the 21-year-old hitman.
However, he also suggests that Juventus are in pole position with the Serie A champions keen to conclude a deal this week, but he warned that the Bianconeri’s €35m (£25m) offer is too low as they want at least €40m (£29m) to cash-in on Dybala.
“Right now it is in pole position Juve, who wants to close the deal in a week,” Zamparini said.
“But I expect, because of course I want the best possible deals, that Dybala is auctioned.
“The Bianconeri have offered me €35 million (£25million) , but I want €40million (£29million) or more. I’m also dealing with Arsenal.”
Dybala has emerged as one of Europe’s hottest properties this season after scoring 13 goals in 29 games for Palermo and he certainly looks to have a bright future ahead of him.
But should we really be spending close to £30m on a young striker who’s only had one great season and isn’t a senior international yet? I have my doubts.
That’s around the same price we paid for Alexis Sanchez – a proven international footballer who’s played for Barcelona – so I’d personally be surprised if Arsene Wenger agreed to pay that kind of money for the youngster.
