Agent Confirms Top Target Would ‘Definitely’ Like To Join Arsenal
Petr Cech’s agent has confirmed that Arsenal are one of the clubs the Chelsea goalkeeper would like to join this summer as he prepares to leave Chelsea.
Cech is set to leave Stamford Bridge after 11 years in West London having losing his place to Thibaut Courtois, with the 32-year-old confirming earlier this month that he’s not prepared to spend another season as a No.2.
Arsenal are one of several clubs who’ve been strongly linked with a move for the Czech international in recent months with Arsene believed to have made him a top target, while the likes of Man Utd, PSG and Liverpool also reportedly keen.
The players agent Viktor Kolar has already confirmed that he’s been given permission to speak with interested parties and now he’s revealed that Cech would ‘definitely’ be keen on joining Arsenal, United or PSG this summer.
The keeper is also expects Roman Abramovich, not Jose Moutinho, to decide on his future following an agreement they made last year.
Kolar has been quoted as telling a Czech journalist:
“Arsenal, United or PSG are all top clubs. And Petr would like to join one of them – definitely.”
“Petr expects that Abramovič not Mourinho will decide about his future, based on their mutual agreement from last year.”
Reports claim that Abramovich has agreed to let Cech have a free choice over his next club and they won’t stand in his way if he wants to move to a rival as a thank you for his loyal service.
Jose Mourinho also admitted last night that he’s powerless to stop Cech joining another Premier League team, so a move to Arsenal could very-much be on the cards.
While I’m sure a move to United would be tempting, Cech has lived in London for 11 years and he and his family are settled in the capital, so I think we are the front-runners.
Arsene Wenger played it coy when quizzed about his interest in the keeper at his press conference this morning but I fully expect the boss to make a move for Cech and as long as we can come to an agreement with Chelsea, I really think he might join us this summer.
The Blues are reportedly looking for around £10m – which would be an absolute bargain for a player of his quality – and there’s no doubt in my mind we should be doing everything in our power to land Cech as he would be a world class addition and is a big upgrade on Ospina and Szczesny.
If we could sign him, along with Schneiderlin and a world class forward then the title can be ours next season!
