Team News Update: Wenger On Sanchez, Bellerin, Wilshere & More
Arsene Wenger has given Arsenal.com a team news and injury update ahead of our trip to Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon, so here’s a round-up of the latest….
Bellerin is available again after recovering from the minor knock he sustained in training last week which kept him out of our loss to West Ham.
I’d personally like to see the Spaniard restored at right-back but we’ll have to see if Arsene agrees or sticks with Debuchy.
Welbeck is close to making his long-waited return from a knee injury that he initially picked up towards the end of last season.
Danny isn’t ready to return just yet so he’ll miss the trip to Selhurst Park on Sunday but the word is he’ll be in contention in a couple of weeks.
Arsene confirmed that Wilshere is on course to return in four weeks following his latest ankle injury that he picked up earlier this month. If his recovery goes well, the midfielder is likely to be available again after the international break next month.
Unfortunately, the boss had some bad news regarding Rosicky as it turns out he’s going to be missing for longer than the initial two month diagnosis after having surgery on a knee injury.
However, the good news is that Sanchez is now considered fit and available for selection after getting another weeks worth of training under his belt. I’d still be cautious over starting him just yet but it wouldn’t surprise me if he’s names in the eleven this weekend.
Here is what Arsene told Arsenal.com today:
on the team news…
Hector Bellerin is back and is available for Sunday. Danny Welbeck is making good progress, but is still not available.
on Jack Wilshere…
We said Jack would be out for four weeks, and he’s in the second week now so he’s on schedule.
on Tomas Rosicky…
Tomas has had surgery on his knee. His agent said he will be out for one or two months, but it will be longer. How long exactly, we don’t know yet.
on Alexis…
Alexis Sanchez is fit, he’s been working hard and is ready for the weekend.
