Arsenal to offer attacker five-year deal worth over £140,00-per-week
According to a report in the Mirror, Arsenal are set to open talks with Alexis Sanchez over a new five-year deal worth in excess of £140,000-a-week.
Sanchez has been a revelation since joining the club from Barcelona in the summer of 2014 and it appears the club are already looking to reward him with a new contract.
The Chilean international’s existing deal runs until 2018 but the Mirror claim that we’ll open extension talks over the coming weeks and offer him a new five-year contract making him the highest paid player at the club.
Mesut Ozil currently holds that honour but the newspaper says that Sanchez’s new deal will be worth in excess of the German’s £140,000-a-week wages.
There is no doubt Alexis has been a sensational signing by Arsene Wenger and I’m sure we’d all love him to commit his long-term future to the Emirates, so let’s hope the extension talks go smoothly.
He might not be the only top star to sign a new deal as the Mirror also suggest that Ozil is in line to get a new contract too.
The playmaker’s current deal also expires in 2018 and the paper says Arsene is keen to tie him down to fresh terms over the coming months to prevent him even getting close to the final two years.
We all crave new signings but tying down our most important players to new contracts is just as important so let’s hope Sanchez and Ozil pen new deals soon.
