Wenger offers positive injury update on Wilshere + Welbeck Latest
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has revealed that injury-plagued midfielder Jack Wilshere could be back playing again in around a month.
Wilshere hasn’t played yet this season after suffering a hairline fracture to his fibula during pre-season training in early August.
The 23-year-old was then forced to undergo surgery in September after the injury failed to heal sufficiently and he was initially ruled out until Christmas.
However, it seem Jack’s recovery is going well as speaking to the press this morning ahead of our trip to Watford on Saturday, Wenger has suggested that he could be back in just over a month’s time.
If the midfielder was to return in mid-November, that would mean he’s back a full month ahead of schedule, so it would be something of a miracle. We’re used to Wilshere having set-backs so it would be a welcome change if he was to recover quicker than expected.
We’ll have to wait and see how his recovery goes over the coming weeks but it would be a major boost if Jack was back playing again before December.
Arsene also gave an update on Danny Welbeck and says the attacker won’t return until the start of January at the earliest.
Welbeck has been out since April due to a troublesome knee injury and he was also ruled out until the New Year after undergoing surgery.
It looks like his rehabilitation is on track so we should have him available again during the second half of the campaign.
Here’s what Arsene is quoted as saying by journalist James Olley this morning:
Wenger: "Jack Wilshere is still at least one month away. Danny Welbeck, earliest, beginning of January."
