Wenger offers Koscielny & Bellerin injury update ahead of Tottenham
Arsene Wenger has given an update on the fitness of Hector Bellerin and Laurent Koscielny ahead of this weekends North Londoner derby against Tottenham.
The duo were among TEN first team squad players who were unavailable for selection against Bayern Munich in our Champions League clash last night.
Bellerin was ruled out after picking up a groin injury against Swansea last weekend while Koscielny missed the game due to a minor hip problem.
Unfortunately the boss says it’s unlikely Hector will be back to face Spurs on Sunday but there is a ‘small chance’ Kos will be back in contention.
Speaking after our 5-1 thrashing last night, Wenger is quoted as saying by the Daily Mail.
‘Bellerin I don’t think will be available for Sunday and Koscielny has a small chance,’
‘From tonight, we have no more injuries, apart from in their heads we have no more injuries.’
Obviously it’s a huge blow to lose Bellerin for such an important game. It was clear for all to see how much we missed him against Munich as Debuchy just isn’t anywhere near the Spaniard’s level.
However, it would be devastating if Koscielny is also ruled out. The defence was a complete mess without him last night so it’s vital he recovers in time to face Tottenham this weekend.
If both players are ruled out, then we’ll be without ten players as Aaron Ramsey, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Theo Walcott, Mikel Arteta, David Ospina, Jack Wilshere, Danny Welbeck and Tomas Rosicky all remain injured.
