Mertesacker & Monreal Out: My Arsenal Line-Up To Face Bournemouth
It’s time to put the shambles at Southampton behind us and get back to winning ways when Arsenal entertain Bournemouth at the Emirates on Monday evening…here is the side I’d like to see start the game.
Goalkeeper: Cech
Petr Cech should start in goal, obviously.
Defence: Bellerin, Gabriel, Koscielny, Gibbs
We were woeful at the back last night and we fully deserved to lose at Southampton so I’d make a couple of changes to the defence. Mertesacker had one of his off days so Gabriel should come in alongside Koscielny while I’d also give Monreal a breather and start Gibbs at left back.
Debuchy has one foot out the door ahead of a January move so we have little option but to stick with Bellerin at right-back.
Midfield: Flamini, Ramsey
Cazorla and Coquelin are out for the foreseeable future and Wilshere is still not ready to make his comeback, so we have little option but to stick with Flamini alongside Ramsey in midfield. I have seen suggestions that Chambers is being primed for a run-out in the middle of the park but I think that would be a huge risk and not one worth taking after the loss at Southampton.
Attack: The Ox, Ozil, Walcott
I think it’s about time Oxlade-Chamberlain is given a start with Campbell the man to make way. The Costa Rican has performed well enough in recent weeks while Sanchez has been out but The Ox deserves a run-out after last night’s disaster and Walcott and Ozil should keep their places.
Striker: Giroud
Giroud will once again lead the line. He was shocking last night but to be fair he had little service so hopefully we can get back to playing our free-flowing attacking football against Bournemouth.
