[Video] Arsene Wenger confirms Wilshere return date + Cazorla latest
Arsene Wenger has been speaking at his pre-match press conference this morning ahead of Thursday night’s Premier League clash with West Brom and he’s given us the latest team news.
The boss was pleased to confirm that Jack Wilshere came through the under-21’s game on Monday unscathed and is now close to making his return to the first team squad.
Jack has now featured three times for the youth side since recovering from his fractured fibula with his latest appearance seeing him getting on the score-sheet during a lively performance.
Wenger says the midfielder is now ready to make his first outing for the first team and while he doesn’t think Wilshere will be considered against West Brom on Thursday, the boss did suggest he could be involved against Sunderland at the weekend.
Arsene also confirmed that Santi Cazorla is back in full training after recovering from a serious knee injury that’s kept him out for the last six months, but the boss gave no indication as to when the Spaniard would be available for selection.
After such a long time on the sidelines, I don’t see Arsene rushing Cazorla back too soon, but hopefully he should be back for at least the final two games of the season against Man City and Aston Villa.
