Wilshere starts in 4-2-3-1 line-up: My Arsenal XI to face Man City
Arsenal take on top four rivals Manchester City on Sunday afternoon and we can secure at least third spot with a win at the Etihad….this is the team I’d like to see Arsene Wenger go with….
Goalkeeper: Cech
Cech is our No.1 and should start ahead of Ospina. Simple.
Defence: Bellerin, Koscielny, Gabriel, Monreal
Unfortunately, Mertesacker has been ruled out of the final two games after suffering a hamstring injury against Norwich last weekend so Gabriel is set to get a recall at the back.
Otherwise, I think we’d all agree that the usual suspects should keep their places with Koscielny, Bellerin and Monreal once again starting in defence.
Midfield: Wilshere, Elneny
I’d love to see Wilshere given a start on Sunday. He may only have played 10 minutes of first team football since recovering from injury but Ramsey was woeful against Norwich and Jack will be itching to impress.
Cazorla is also back in contention after playing 60 minutes for the under-21’s in midweek but he’s not going to be ready to start just yet so he should be on the bench.
Coquelin has found himself on the bench in recent games and that’s because Elneny has been in great form so I’d stick with the Egyptian in the holding role on Sunday.
Attack: Iwobi, Ozil, Sanchez
Iwobi’s form has dipped slightly in recent games but we don’t really have that many options to come in. Walcott has done nothing from the bench to show he deserves to start while Oxlade-Chamberlain has been cruely ruled out for two months with a new knee injury.
Campbell could be an option but I’d stick with Iwobi alongside Ozil and Sanchez in attack against Man City.
Striker: Welbeck
Oli Giroud’s poor form continued last weekend as he stretched his goalless run to 14 games so it would be criminal if Welbeck didn’t start. He made a massive impact off the bench against Norwich so he’d lead the line up front in my team.
This would be my line-up:
In reality, I wouldn’t be surprised if Wenger went with a defensive team and started Coquelin alongside Elneny in midfield and he may even start Ramsey out wide. Whatever side is put out, let’s pray we can get at least a draw while a win would put real pressure on second-placed Tottenham.
