Preview: Man City v Arsenal, team news, line-ups & prediction

Arsenal take on top four rivals Manchester City on Sunday afternoon and we can secure at least third spot with a win at the Etihad.

Last weekends 1-0 win over Norwich saw us open up a three point gap in third after City lost at Southampton so a draw tomorrow should be good enough to secure automatic Champions League qualification given we play Villa at home on the final day. A win would obviously guarantee third.

We still have slim hopes of catching Tottenham but they could could wrap-up second spot before we even kick off at the Etihad if they beat Southampton at home, as they currently hold a three point lead with a far superior goal difference.

It’s turned out to be a hugely disappointing season but no matter what your feelings are towards Wenger or the board, we all want to be playing in the Champions League so finishing third is still vital and it’ll mean the boss can hopefully do his transfer business early.

City are under pressure from Man Utd after they moved to within a point today but they could suffer a hangover from their Champions League defeat at Real Madrid in midweek.

Team News

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has been ruled out for up to two months with a new knee injury that he suffered in training last week so he’s not only out for the rest of the season but unfortunately he’ll also miss Euro 2016.

Per Mertesacker will also sit out our final two games with a hamstring injury that he picked up against Norwich last weekend so Gabriel will start in defence.

Jack Wilshere is pushing for a start while Santi Cazorla is also back in contention after recovering from an Achilles injury, but I don’t think Arsene will consider the Spaniard from the start just yet.

As for City, they’ll be without Vincent Kompany, David Silva, Alexandar Kolarov and Pablo Zabaleta.

Preferred line-up

I’d like to see Wilshere given a start tomorrow and I’d bring him in for Ramsey as he was woeful against Norwich last weekend. The other change I’d certainly make is to bring Welbeck in for the miss-firing Giroud….

City are expected to line-up: Hart, Sagna, Otamendi, Mangala, Clichy, Toure, Fernandinho, Nasri, De Bruyne, Sterling, Aguero.

Prediction & Betting

Man City 1-2 Arsenal: As I’ve previously said, City will be feeling the effects of their midweek trip to Madrid and they’ll be without a few key players so this could be a good time to play them. Obviously with players like Aguero and De Bruyne in the side they are still dangerous but they are also weak in defence, so I’m backing us to edge it 2-1.

For those having a wager on the City game, we can get you enhanced odds of 10/1 on an Arsenal win but if you like to bet on the exact score, a 2-1 victory is available at best odds of 12/1.
