[Tweet] Welbeck reacts on Twitter after being ruled out for 9 months
Arsenal attacker Danny Welbeck has taken to Twitter this afternoon to react to the news that he’s been ruled out for nine months following knee surgery.
Danny limped out of our 2-2 draw at Manchester City on Sunday afternoon after suffering a knee problem following a collision with Bacary Sagna midway through the first half.
Arsene Wenger admitted after the game that he feared the striker had suffered serious damage and the club sent him to see specialist Andy Williams on Tuesday to determine the full extent of the injury.
The diagnosis is in and unfortunately it’s terrible news as Arsenal confirmed on Arsenal.com a short time ago that Welbeck has suffered significant cartilage damage and has been forced to undergo surgery.
The injury is expected to keep Danny out for nine months meaning he’ll not only miss this summer’s European Championships but he’ll also be out for the majority of next season.
Welbeck has now joined Twitter and his first Tweet was to post a photo of him celebrating in his Arsenal shirt with a message saying he’ll come back stronger from this latest setback.
It’s a cruel blow as the 25-year-old only recently returned from 10 months on the sidelines with a similar injury to his other knee. Since making his comeback in February, Welbeck has showed his worth after scoring five goals, including vital winners against Leicester and Norwich.
If we needed a top class striker this summer before Danny’s injury, it’s now imperative Wenger dips in to the market to bring in a new front-man.
