Arsenal ready to enter bidding for £29m Barcelona attacker – report

According to a report in Spanish outlet Sport, Arsenal are ready to enter the bidding to sign Barcelona attacker Arda Turan, who’s set to leave the Nou Camp for around £29m this summer.
Turan made his name at Galatasaray and earned a move to Atletico Madrid in 2011 where he developed in to one of the best attacking midfielders in Europe before joining Barca last summer.
However, the Turkish international endured a difficult debut season at the Nou Camp as he was restricted to making just 13 starts in all competitions. This was largely down to the fact he wasn’t able to play until January due to the Catalans transfer ban but even when available Turan wasn’t regarded as a first team regular.
It’s led to speculation that the 29-year-old could now be on the move again this summer in search of more game time and Spanish outlet Sport claims that Arsenal are ready to enter the bidding for the attacker.
Fenerbache are understood to be in pole position as they’ve already held talks with Barca about a deal but we should be confident of winning the race if Arsene Wenger decides to make our interest formal over the coming weeks.
Sport suggest that Barcelona will want at least the £29m (€34m) they paid Atletico last summer to sell Turan, which seems a lot for a player who’ll turn 30 in January, but you can’t deny his quality if we can get him back to his best.
During his days at the Vicente Calderon, Turan was a beast and the fact he can play on either wing or even through the middle makes him an attractive proposition for the boss.

If we do end up going for the Turkish star, he may be viewed as a potential replacement for Theo Walcott – who’s been strongly linked with a move away this summer after a disappointing campaign last season.
