Arsenal hoping to secure £8m deal for 23-goal hitman this week
According to the Sun, Arsenal are hoping to secure an £8m deal to sign highly-rated Toulouse striker Wissam Ben Yedder this week.
Arsene Wenger has been busy looking to bring in another striker this summer after Jamie Vardy snubbed his proposed move from Leicester City last month.
A number of high profile strikers have been linked in recent weeks but with Higuain joining Juventus and Lyon confirming they’ve rejected our £29m bid for Lacazette, it appears Wenger has turned his attention to a cheaper option.
The Sun are citing reports coming from French outlet Canal+ that claim Arsenal are battling-it-out with Sevilla over an £8m deal to sign French under-21 international Wissam Ben Yedder.
The 25-year-old is now weighing-up his options and the newspaper suggests that he’ll make his decision over whether to join Arsenal or Sevilla by the end of this week.
Ben Yedder has developed in to one of the most prolific strikers in Ligue 1 in recent years and really caught the attention after scoring 23 goals for relegation-threatened Toulouse last season.
Only Ibrahimovic and Lacazette have scored more Ligue 1 goals than the French youngster over the past four seasons so he certainly has some pedigree in France but it’s a huge jump up in quality to compete in the Premier League.
Obviously he isn’t the big-name striker fans have been crying out for and it’s understandable that supporters will be disappointed if Ben Yedder is the player Wenger ends up signing this summer as we should be aiming a lot higher than a prospect from France given our vast resources.

My only hope is that IF we do end up signing Ben Yedder, that he’s being brought in as a squad player and the boss plans to sign a more establish striker as well.
