Arsenal star ruled out of World Cup qualifiers due to injury
Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey has been ruled out of Wales’ 2018 World Cup qualifiers against Austria and Georgia next week due to a niggling hamstring injury.
Ramsey has been on the sidelines for over six weeks since suffering the injury during our opening Premier League defeat to Liverpool at the Emirates last month.
The midfielder was initially expected to return to action after the September international break but the injury has proven difficult to shift and he’s been forced to miss games against Southampton, PSG, Hull, Forest, Chelsea and Basel.
Arsene Wenger has also confirmed that Ramsey won’t be ready to make his comeback against Burnley this weekend and he’s now been left out of the Wales squad for their upcoming World Cup double header next week.
It means Rambo will continue to work on his recovery programme during the international break and fingers crossed he’ll be ready to finally make his comeback when we welcome Swansea to the Emirates on October 15th.
Obviously it’s been a blow to have lost a player of Ramsey’s quality for the vast majority of the season so far but I think the Welshman is going to face a tough task regaining his first team place given how well we’re playing right now.
With Granit Xhaka impressing alongside Santi Cazorla in the middle of the park and Mohamed Elneny and Francis Coquelin also vying for a starting spot there is plenty of competition in central midfield.
Ramsey was used out on the right last season but Theo Walcott has made that position his own with a string of superb performances this season so it’s difficult to see where Rambo will fit in to Wenger’s side once he does eventually return from injury.
