Arsenal star sends message to Tottenham ahead of North London Derby
Arsenal attacker Alexis Sanchez has sent a message to Tottenham ahead of Sunday’s North London Derby by insisting he’s ready for the physical battle this weekend.
Sanchez has been starring in a more central striking role so far this season in the absence of Olivier Giroud and the Chilean international is expected to once again lead the line up front against Spurs on Sunday.
The 27-year-old has played in several NLD’s since he joined Arsenal from Barcelona in the summer of 2014 but the South American remembers the first time he faced our local rivals and recalls being ‘taken out’ early on during his first game.
However, Sanchez has warned the Tottenham players that he won’t let that happen again and the feisty Chilean says he’s now ready for battle this weekend.
Sanchez is quoted as saying by the Metro:
‘It’s going to have everything,’ he said. ‘It’ll be a high-intensity match with plenty of hustle and bustle. I’ve played them a few times now and the first time I didn’t know what to expect.
‘They told me I had to start strong, and I remember I got taken out early on but then told myself that wouldn’t happen again.
‘We like to dominate possession and pass the ball around, but we’ll have to be wise to the counter-attack [on Sunday].’
It’s certainly sounds like Alexis is up for Sunday’s game so let’s hope that passion produces a quality performance and he doesn’t let his emotions get the better of him.
We welcome Spurs to the Emirates sitting level on points with leaders Man City at the top of the Premier League and with Tottenham three points adrift in fifth, we have the chance to open up a six point advantage over our north London rivals.
