20-year-old starts in 4-2-3-1: My Arsenal XI to face PSG
Arsenal will look to secure top spot in our Champions League group when we entertain Paris Saint-Germain at the Emirates on Wednesday night. This is the team I’d like to see Arsene Wenger go with….
Goalkeeper: Ospina
Arsene has started Ospina in all four of our previous Champions League games so there is no reason to think he’ll change things up now as the Colombian has performed well enough so far.
Defence: Jenkinson, Mustafi, Koscielny, Monreal
Unfortunately Bellerin will be out for another month with an ankle injury so I’d stick with Jenkinson at right-back tomorrow. He was a little nervy early on against Man Utd – understandably – but settled in to the game and will always give 100%.
Therefore, I’d go with the same back four that started at Old Trafford with Mustafi once again alongside Koscielny and Monreal keeping his place at left-back.
Midfield: Ramsey, Xhaka
Cazorla continues to miss out with an Achilles injury and I don’t think there is any doubt we need to mix things up in midfield as the Coquelin-Elneny partnership was a nightmare against United.
Xhaka should certainly come back in to the team and while Wenger will no doubt start Coquelin alongside him, I’d like to see us go with Ramsey next to the Swiss international.
Rambo came in for a lot of stick at the weekend but he isn’t a wide player. We all know that. So let’s play him in his best position and let him develop a pertnership with Xhaka.
Attack: Walcott, Ozil, Iwobi
Iwobi has fallen out-of-favour in recent weeks and I think Arsene is just taking him out of the spotlight for a bit but I think he needs to be given a recall tomorrow. Oxlade-Chamberlain staked a case for inclusion after making an impact off the bench on Saturday but I’d go with Iwobi on the left and Walcott on the right.
Ozil put in a disappointing display at the weekend but hopefully we see him back to his best tomorrow.
Striker: Sanchez
Wenger’s risk in starting Sanchez at Old Trafford paid off as he came through the game unscathed so as long as he hasn’t suffered any setback, the Chilean should lead the line against PSG before being given a rest against Bournemouth at the weekend.
Giroud made a superb impact off the bench against United and he’ll be a useful weapon to have versus PSG if things aren’t going our way.
This would be my line-up to face United:
