Arsenal handed major boost with key man set for swift injury return

It looks like Arsenal could be set for a major injury boost with the Express reporting that Hector Bellerin is due to make a swift return to training.

Bellerin – who penned a new lucrative long-term contract with the club last week – was sidelined after picking up an ankle injury during the final stages of our 1-1 draw with Tottenham earlier this month.

The right-back was withdrawn from international duty with Spain and Arsene Wenger claimed at his press conference last week before the Manchester United game that Bellerin was expected to be out for another four weeks.

The boss is quoted as saying by the Express:

“Hector is out for four weeks. He got injured in the last ten seconds against Spurs after a very strong tackle by Danny Rose.

“It’s an ankle injury. It was a bad one. It’s annoying to lose Bellerin. Did Rose want to injure Bellerin? I don’t think so. He just went in for the tackle.”

However, it appears we’re about to be handed a huge boost as the Express are reporting that Bellerin is now set for a swift return to action with the Spaniard due to resume light training next week.

If the 21-year-old doesn’t suffer any sort of reaction, he should then be given the green light to return to full training with the rest of the squad and he could even be in contention for the trip to West Ham at the start of December.

It would be a massive boost as Bellerin is a key part of our team and I think we sorely missed him against Manchester United last weekend as Carl Jenkinson just doesn’t pose the same threat going forward as the pacey Spaniard.

Jenks is expected to keep his place against Bournemouth on Sunday but I’d love to see Bellerin back in the starting eleven when we take on the Hammers next weekend.
