Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed Theo Walcott will miss at least another two games after suffering a setback in his recovery from a calf injury.

Walcott picked up what was initially described as a minor calf injury shortly before Christmas and the boss only expected the attacker to be out for a matter of days.

However, the injury has proven to be difficult to shift and Theo has been forced to miss our last four games against West Brom, Crystal Palace, Bournemouth and Preston North End.

The boss has now revealed that the 27-year-old suffered a setback when he resumed training so Walcott is now set to miss tomorrow’s trip to Swansea as well as next weekend’s visit of Burnley to the Emirates.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference this morning, Wenger is quoted as saying by the Metro.

‘Walcott is still out. He is on the of the players that doesn’t come back. He was not rested last week he was injured.

‘He’s been out for three-and-a-half weeks and he won’t be available for Burnley. He needs two more weeks.

‘It was a little calf problem and it wasn’t comfortable when he started to train again.’

As long as Walcott doesn’t suffer any further setbacks, then hopefully he’ll be back in contention for our FA Cup fourth round tie with either Southampton or Norwich City later this month.

Let’s hope that’s the case as we need Theo to be back fully-fit and in form ahead of what’s going to be a crucial couple of months that sees us take on the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool in the league while we also have the small matter of a Champions League double header against Bayern Munich to worry about.
