Arsenal trio set to return + positive update on attacker
According to Ben Dinnery, Hector Bellerin, Francis Coquelin and Kieran Gibbs are set to return this weekend while Olivier Giroud’s ankle injury isn’t serious.
Coquelin has been on the sidelines since suffering a hamstring injury during our 3-3 draw with Bournemouth earlier this month and was initially not expected back until the start of February.
However, it looks like the midfielder is ahead of schedule as injury expert Dinnery has confirmed Coquelin is back in full training and should be fit to face Burnley this weekend.
The Frenchman’s return is well-timed as Mohamed Elneny is at the African Cup of Nations while Santi Cazorla has suffered a set-back in his recovery from Achilles surgery.
Bellerin has sat out our last two matches after sustaining an ankle injury in training before the Preston game but thankfully he’s also set for a swift return to action.
It will be a big boost to have Hector back as we don’t have anyone in the squad who’s capable of filling his boots at right-back.
One of our other full-backs, Gibbs, has missed our last four matches due to a knee injury but he too is back in full training and should be in contention to take on Burnley on Sunday.
So it looks like three players are set for returns this weekend and in a further boost, Dinnery has also revealed that Giroud’s ankle injury isn’t serious.
The French international picked up the problem during our win at Swansea on Saturday but it’s understood the club are confident he’ll be available on Sunday.
Obviously that news comes as a huge relief as the early indications were that Giroud could be facing a spell on the sidelines.
Bellerin, Gibbs and Coquelin have all returned to full training. The trio will be available on Sunday *barring any setbacks. #AFC

Giroud ankle injury is not as bad as initially feared, the striker continues to be assessed. #AFC optimistic he could be ready for Sunday.
