Chief responds to reports linking £51m star with Arsenal move

By on February 1, 2017

According to the Metro, Borussia Dortmund’s sporting director has responded to reports linking Marco Reus with a big money move to Arsenal by insisting the player hasn’t given any indication he wants to leave.

Reus has long been linked with a move to the Emirates and the speculation emerged once again last week with reports suggesting that Arsene Wenger has identified the attacker as a potential summer recruit.

WhoScored? reported that the boss has earmarked the German international as the ideal replacement for Alexis Sanchez in-case the club are unable to persuade him to sign a new deal.

Alexis is now in the final 18 months of his contract at the Emirates and we’ve so far been unable to agree terms over an extension so we could be forced to cash-in this summer if he doesn’t commit himself to the club over the coming months.

Italian journalist Emanuele Giulianelli wrote an exclusive for WhoScored? saying that Wenger was prepared to pay £51m to sign Reus and offer him a lucrative contract worth £6.8m-a-season to make the move to north London.

However, Dortmund’s sporting director Michael Zorc has now hit-back at the rumours by insisting that Rues hasn’t given any sign that he wants to leave the Westfallonstadion.

‘I won’t waste my time with half-baked stuff.’ Zorc is quoted as saying by the Metro.

‘It’s not known to me that Marco wants to leave us.’

Reus is still under contract until 2019 so unless he makes it clear he wants to leave then Dortmund will be under no pressure to sell this summer.

But if Sanchez does end up being sold by Arsenal I’d absolutely love to see us go all out to try and land the German international as he’d be a superb addition to the squad.
