Arsenal boost: Star expected to be fit for Bayern Munich clash

According to the Express, Arsenal star Hector Bellerin is a doubt to face Hull City this weekend but is expected to be back in time for our trip to Bayern Munich next week.

Bellerin was forced off during the early stages of our defeat at Chelsea on Saturday after being knocked out by a flying elbow from Marcos Alonso.

Somehow the referee deemed this assault to be within the rules so Chelsea’s opening ‘goal’ stood and the rest, as they say, is history with the Blues going on to win the game 3-1.

Hector took to Twitter yesterday to say he’s on the mend and hopes to be back in action soon but the Express claim today that the right-back won’t be allowed back to training until Friday.

The FA suggest that players shouldn’t play for up to 14 days following a concision but ultimately the decision rests with the club to make their own call based on each players individual situation.

The Express say that Bellerin is awaiting the results of an MRI scan but the club are confident there is no lasting damage so the Spaniard could still make Saturday’s visit of Hull to the Emirates.

However, the 21-year-old will be assessed when he returns to training on Friday and even if he is ruled out of the Tigers clash then the paper says he’s expected to be fit for the trip to Bayern Munich next Wednesday.

Gabriel is on stand-by to deputise this weekend but he is nowhere near Bellerin’s level. We might just about get away with it against Hull but we desperately need Bellerin back if we’re to get a result at the Allianz Arena.

Bayern are one of the best teams in the world so we’re going to need all the luck we can get to beat them. Most of the bookmakers such as LeoVegas don’t give us a hope of progressing to the quarter finals and have Bayern as the heavy odds-on favourites but I have a feeling we’re going to surprise a few people.

We’ve pushed the Germans all the way during our two most recent meetings and they aren’t as strong as they used to be under Guardiola in my opinion, so with Bellerin expected to be back I hope we can get a positive result at the Allianz.
