Father responds to reports his son has signed for Arsenal
Sead Kolasinac’s father appears to have dismissed reports suggesting that the defender has already agreed to join Arsenal this summer.
The left-back is out of contract at Schalke in June and is set for a move at the end of the season after failing to agree terms over an extension.
The Bosnian international is one of the best full-backs in the Bundesliga so understandably he’s attracted plenty of interest with Arsenal, Chelsea and AC Milan among those linked.
Sky Sports News claim that Sky Germany beleive that Kolasinac has agreed to join Arsenal and was in London last week to sign a pre-contract agreement ahead of a free transfer move.
However, his father seems to have denied that is the case after telling Bosnian TV station N1 Sarajevo that a final decision over which club Kolasinac will join will be made next week.
“Next week we will decide everything.” he’s quoted as saying by Sky Sports.
So either Kolasinac senior is trying to play down the Arsenal move reports until we’re prepared to make a formal announcement or the speculation is wide of the mark and he’s yet to decide on his future.
Let’s see how things develop but it sounds like a decision will be made in the coming week and I hope we see Kolasinac end up moving to the Emirates as he’s a superb left-back.
We need to bring in a new left-sided defender as Kieran Gibbs is expected to leave this summer after failing to hold down a first team place while Nacho Monreal’s form has steadily declined this season and snapping-up Kolasinac on a free would be a great piece of business.
