23-year-old international ‘will join Arsenal’ this summer [Mirror]

According to the Mirror, Sead Kolasinac will join Arsenal as our new first choice left-back this summer with Arsene Wenger ready to sell either Kieran Gibbs or Nacho Monreal.

Kolasinac has been strongly linked with a move to the Emirates in recent months and he’s set to leave Schalke on a free transfer after failing to agree terms over an extension.

The 23-year-old has been tracked by several of Europe’s biggest clubs and his father claimed earlier this month that the defender was still mulling over his next move with Arsenal, Chelsea and AC Milan reportedly in the running for his signature.

However, the Metro reported last week that Kolasinac had chosen Arsenal and had undergone the first part of his medical after agreeing personal terms over a four-year contract.

To reinforce those reports, the Mirror are now reporting today that the Bosnian international will indeed be joining Arsenal on a free transfer at the end of the season as Wenger looks to revamp his squad.

Despite growing calls for the Frenchman to leave this summer, it looks increasingly likely that Arsene will be staying and overseeing a major re-structure of the club.

Kolasinac appears to be coming in as our new first choice left-back as the Mirror claim that Wenger will sell either Gibbs or Monreal and is willing to listen to offers for both players.

Gibbs is approaching the final year of his deal but Wenger has publicly said he’d like to keep hold of him so the 27-year-old’s future is likely to rest on whether he signs an extension.

If Gibbs agrees a new deal, then we should see Monreal sold but if Gibbsy refuses an extension then he’s likely to go with Nacho staying to act as understudy to Kolasinac next season.

Obviously we shouldn’t get too excited until it’s announced on Arsenal.com but it looks like Kolasinac will be our first major signing of the summer and I think he’ll be a superb addition – especially on a free transfer – as he’s been one of the best defenders in Germany this year.
