Team news: Wenger reveals triple injury blow ahead of Sunderland
Arsene Wenger has been speaking to the media this morning and has given a team news update ahead of our clash with Sunderland tomorrow night.
The boss has confirmed that Alexis Sanchez will face a late fitness test after limping out of Saturday’s 4-1 win at Stoke City with a thigh problem.
The Chilean international took a kick to his thigh just minutes before scoring the crucial third goal midway through the second half and he’s now a doubt to face Sunderland.
Wenger also revealed that Laurent Koscielny could miss out tomorrow night after aggravating a calf injury against Stoke at the weekend having previously missed the Southampton game.
One player who is certain to miss out is Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as he’s still not recovered from a hamstring injury that kept him out of the trip to the Bet365 Stadium at the weekend.
The Ox picked up the injury against Southampton and he’ll now sit out the last two league games against Sunderland and Everton but Wenger says he has an 80% chance to be fit for the FA Cup final.
So we could be without three important players tomorrow, however, there was some more positive news on the fitness of Kieran Gibbs as he’s back in contention after missing the Stoke win with a minor calf problem.
Here is what Arsene told reporters:
At #AFC – team news: "We have a little problem with Koscileny from Stoke – Gibbs I left behind on Sat but he is available. Ox still out."
