Arsenal plotting move for £30m midfielder, player wants move

By on May 18, 2017

According to the Mirror, Arsenal are keen on signing £30m-rated midfielder Corentin Tolisso with the player understood to be keen on leaving Lyon this summer.

Despite a growing number of fans calling for him to walk away when his contract runs out next month, Arsene Wenger is set to stay and oversee a huge overhaul of his squad.

Practically all areas of the team need to be addressed but central midfield is a particular area of concern and the Mirror claim the boss has now identified Tolisso as a key target.

Wenger has been a long-term admirer of the 22-year-old and he’s now ready to make his move with the newspaper suggesting that Tolisso is set to leave Lyon in order to boost his chances of making the France squad for the 2018 World Cup.

The midfielder has been with Lyon for ten years after progressing through their youth ranks and has enjoyed an excellent season having scored 14 goals and set-up a further 6 for his team mates.

Understandably, the Ligue 1 side aren’t going to let Tolisso leave easily and the Mirror claim they will demand around £30m for his signature this summer.

That sort of money shouldn’t be too much of a problem for Arsenal but we’ll have to wait and see whether Wenger is prepared to meet Lyon’s asking price or move on to other targets.

I think central midfield has been a huge problem area for the team this season so Wenger needs to get the right personnel in to create the perfect balance next season and it looks as though Tolisso is on his radar.
