Key duo recalled by Wenger: My Arsenal starting XI vs Everton

Arsenal need to beat Everton at the Emirates on Sunday and hope Liverpool slip-up against Middlesbrough to secure a top four finish on the final day of the season.

This is the team I’d like to see Arsene Wenger go with….

Goalkeeper: Cech

Cech has been in excellent form these past few weeks so no doubt he should keep the gloves on Sunday. In fact, I think Wenger would be mad not to start him in the FA Cup final ahead of Ospina [but he won’t].

Defence: Mustafi, Koscielny, Holding

Koscielny is facing a late fitness test after missing the Sunderland game on Tuesday with a niggling Achilles injury. Lukaku has given us plenty of problems over the years so I think Wenger will be desperate to have Kos in the side so hopefully he’s passed fit.

Realistically I think we’ll see Holding make way but I’d like to see the youngster retain his place as he hasn’t put a foot wrong. Plus, I prefer Monreal on the wing.

Mustafi has been in better form over the past couple of games so he should start on the right side of the back three with Gabriel on the bench.

Midfield: Bellerin, Xhaka, Ramsey, Monreal

As I say, I prefer Monreal on the wing. He’s solid enough in the back three but I think he looks more at home on the left and he’s a big upgrade on Gibbs – who’s failed to take his chance in the wing-back role.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has been ruled out as he continues to recover from a hamstring injury so Bellerin will continue in the right wing-back position.

Ramsey has been given the all-clear after limping out of the Sunderland game with a muscle problem so he should continue alongside Xhaka in the middle of the park. Both players have been excellent recently so hopefully their form continues on Sunday.

Danny Welbeck

Attack: Ozil, Sanchez, Welbeck

Sanchez proved once again what a warrior he is after playing through a thigh injury so score both goals in midweek so as long as he hasn’t suffered any reaction, he should continue in attack.

Ozil was sublime against the Black Cats and created an incredible 12 chances for his team-mates so obviously he’ll retain his place against Everton.

However, I’d like to see a change up top as Giroud was once again the weak link in the attack on Tuesday night. Welbeck’s movement suits our style of play much more so let’s give him the nod up front and use Giroud as an impact sub.

The new formation has seen Walcott left out in the cold so unfortunately he’ll continue on the bench this weekend where he could be joined by Lucas Perez – although Wenger will probably leave him out of the squad once again.
