Arsenal told they can sign 37-goal striker for £60m following talks

According to the Telegraph, Lyon have informed Arsenal we can sign Alexandre Lacazette if we pay €55million (£48.7m) up front plus €12m (£10.6m) in additional add-ons following fresh talks.

Arsene Wenger is in the market for a top class striker to help fire us to a top trophy next season and Lacazette has emerged as a prime target in recent weeks.

The Sun reported last week that Wenger and chief executive Ivan Gazidis held talks with Lyon president Jean-Michael Aulas in the south of France where they were hoping to secure a £50m deal to sign Lacazette.

However, the Telegraph claim today that following fresh talks, the Ligue 1 outfit have informed Arsenal that they want €55million (£48.7m) up front plus €12m (£10.6m) in additional add-ons for the hot-shot striker.

The newspaper says that Lyon accept the time has come for Lacazette to leave the club this summer and Wenger is ready to pounce after Atletico Madrid saw their proposed deal to sign the 26-year-old collapse after their transfer ban was upheld.

We’ll have to wait and see whether the Gunners boss will be prepared to meet Lyon’s reported asking price but it doesn’t sound too unreasonable in today’s market for a striker as prolific as Lacazette.

The French international netted 37 goals in all competitions last season so he’d certainly add a real threat in the final third to our team if he does end up coming to the Emirates this summer.

Wenger clearly likes him as we tabled a bid last summer so this could be the time we finally get our hands on Lacazette and I think he’d be a superb addition to the squad.

However, I just hope he isn’t being lined-up as a potential replacement for Alexis Sanchez as speculation continues to circle that the Chilean international will snub a new contract and push to leave Arsenal.

Let’s hope Lacazette will be lining-up alongside Alexis next season, not again him.
