Arsenal battling to sign £30m international attacker
It looks like Arsenal face a tough battle to sign Riyad Mahrez as The Sun are reporting that Juventus have now joined the chase to land the £30m-rated Leicester City attacker.
Mahrez was strongly linked with a move to the Emirates last summer before opting to sign a new deal with Leicester and lead them in to their maiden Champions League campaign.
However, the Algerian international now looks to be on the move after handing in a written transfer request last month and Arsene Wenger sparked transfer rumours after reinforcing his admiration of the player.
The boss also hinted he could table a formal bid for Mahrez this summer which prompted the attacker to say he was ‘honoured’ to have received praise from such an esteemed manager.
Wenger needs to strengthen his squad after missing out on the top four and Mahrez would be a quality addition while he could also be a top class replacement for Alexis Sanchez or Mesut Ozil if either leaves this summer.
However, we could face some stiff competition as The Sun claim that Juventus have now joined the chase while Chelsea are also understood to be showing a keen interest in landing Mahrez.
The newspaper says Leicester want around £30m for the 26-year-old – which won’t be a problem for any of the clubs in the running – so it’s going to be a tough battle to sign the Algerian star.
Obviously Juve and Chelsea can offer Mahrez Champions League football so that will play a part in any decision but hopefully Wenger is still able to lure him to north London if we decide to make a formal move.

While Mahrez wasn’t at his best last season, he was outstanding during Leicester’s 2015/16 title-winning campaign having registered 17 goals and 10 assists to win the PFA Player of the Year award.
If we could get him back playing his best football then I think Mahrez would be an excellent signing, but there’s a long way to go before he’ll be wearing the famous Red & White of Arsenal so let’s just see how things develop.
