Arsenal to make £100m plus Giroud offer for Mbappe

By on June 16, 2017

According to L’Equipe via The Sun, Arsenal are set to test Monaco’s resolve with a fresh £100m plus Olivier Giroud offer for superstar striker Kylian Mbappe.

The 18-year-old is the hottest property in world football right now after scoring 26 goals and providing a further 14 assists to help fire Monaco to the Ligue 1 title last season.

Arsene Wenger has publicly expressed his admiration of Mbappe and has renewed his interest after trying to sign the teenager last summer before he signed a new deal at Monaco.

L’Equipe reported earlier this month that we’d seen an opening £87m offer knocked back while the newspaper also says we’ve seen a subsequent £121m bid rejected after Real Madrid had also failed to agree a deal with the French giants.

Monaco appear determined to hold on to Mbappe for at least another year but it looks like Wenger is ready to have another go as The Sun are citing a report from L’Equipe that says Arsenal will offer £100m and Giroud in exchange for the French striker.

Giroud is being tipped to leave Arsenal after starting just 11 Premier League games last season and he’s made it clear he wants more regular football in the run up to the 2018 World Cup.

The 31-year-old has been linked with a couple of English clubs but it seems Wenger is ready to use him as bait to land Mbappe and it’s an offer that could well be tempting for Monaco.

Wenger is obviously doing all he can to try and land the teen sensation and while it remains highly unlikely we’ll get a deal agreed, at least it’s nice to see the club being ambitious in the transfer market.

Mbappe is the most in-demand player of the summer and we’ll have to smash the world record to buy him so usually Wenger would run for the hills at such a situation, but it looks like he’s willing to dig deep to pull off what would be a sensational coup.

However, I still think the most likely scenario is that Mbappe is either bought by Real Madrid and loaned back to Monaco for a year or he stays where he is for 12 months and then goes to the Bernabeu. It’s not often a player can turn down a dream move to Madrid.
