Arsenal know attacker wants to join & hope to secure £45m deal
According to a report in The Sun, Arsenal know Thomas Lemar wants to move to the Emirates this summer and we’re hopeful of agreeing a £45m deal with Monaco for his signature.
Lemar has been strongly linked with a move to Arsenal in recent weeks but we’ve so far been unable to agree terms with Monaco despite reportedly tabling at least two formal bids.
The Sun claim the French champions have slapped a whopping £80m price-tag on the attackers head in a bid to deter interest but that doesn’t appear to have worked with Arsenal.
The newspaper says Arsene Wenger is desperate to sign Lemar and knows the player is keen to make the move to north London so we remain confident a deal will eventually be agreed.
Despite Monaco’s supposed £80m valuation, The Sun claim Wenger remains hopeful that we’ll be able to strike a deal nearer £45m – although the boss is prepared to go higher if needed.
In order to raise extra funds, Arsenal will sell off a number of squad players with the likes of Jack Wilshere, Lucas Perez, Calum Chambers, Carl Jenkinson, Mathieu Debuchy and Kieran Gibbs all set for moves.
We’ll have to wait and see how things develop but it looks like Arsenal aren’t going to give up on Lemar without a fight and I hope we get a deal over the line soon as he’d be a superb addition to the squad.
The French international is capable of playing anywhere across the attacking midfield positions so he’d give Wenger plenty of options and he’s one of the most exciting young talents in Europe.

Lemar played a pivotal role in helping Monaco win the title after scoring 14 goals and setting up a further 17 for his team mates and he has the potential to develop even further at Arsenal.
