Arsenal agree personal terms with 21-goal hitman ahead of £53m move

By on January 15, 2018

According to a report in the Express, Arsenal have now agreed terms over a club-record contract with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang ahead of his potential move from Borussia Dortmund.

It all kicked off on Sunday evening after Sky Sports pundit Guillem Balague claimed on Twitter that Arsenal were closing in on a £53m deal [€60m] to sign Aubameyang.

Balague says that while we are also in for Bordeaux winger Malcom, Aubameyang is actually the player Arsene Wenger wants to replace Alexis Sanchez – who’s being tipped to join Man Utd over City.

It looks like this story is gathering pace as German football expert Lee Price has now claimed that Arsenal have agreed terms with Aubameyang over a contract that will make him the highest paid player in the clubs history.

The Express say Price is a reliable source as he previously called Naby Keita’s move to Liverpool before many outlets while he also reported on Sead Kolasinac’s switch to Arsenal before it was announced. Price has also written two books about the Bundesliga so he certainly knows his stuff when it comes to German football.

The expert has claimed that although Arsenal weren’t Aubameyang’s first choice destination, a move to the Emirates is now on the cards once Sanchez completes his switch away from the club.

Price is quoted as saying by the Express:

“Aubameyang has wanted out of Dortmund for more than a year. They were keen to cash in last summer despite agreeing a new deal.

“It was Dortmund’s belief that the Premier League cash would come eventually and it appears they will now get their wish.

“The player, meanwhile, rejected a move to China in the belief he would get a move to one of the European big boys.

“Arsenal would not have been his first choice but it’s very much a match of convenience. He wants to come to the Premier League and they need to replace Sanchez.

“I understand the contract which has been agreed will make him the club’s record earner ever. It’s now up to a fee to be agreed with Arsenal and the Sanchez sale to be wrapped up.”

Aubameyang was axed from the Dortmund squad yesterday for disciplinary reasons and the club’s CEO suggested after their game with Wolfsburg that they are ready to sell this month, so the player is clearly agitating for a move.

We’ll have to wait and see how this all plays out but the 28-year-old would be an excellent addition to the squad as he’s one of the most prolific strikers in Europe and has already scored 21 times in 23 games this season.
