Arsenal eyeing summer move for Marco Reus, deal could be done for £44.3m

According to a report by TeamTalk, Arsenal are eyeing a summer swoop for Marco Reus and Borussia Dortmund could be willing to sell for £44.3m but we’ll face stiff competition for his signature.

Reus has been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium several times in the past with boss Arsene Wenger a long-time fan of the German international’s.

The 28-year-old has proven himself to be one of the most prolific attackers in Europe since joining Dortmund in 2012 as he’s provided an impressive 89 goals and 61 assists in his 191 games.

However, Reus’s career has been plagued by a number of serious injuries and he’s only recently returned from a cruciate knee ligament injury that had kept him out since the summer.

The attacker is hoping to stay injury-free during the second half of the season and book his place in the German squad for this summers World Cup finals but he’s also reportedly ready to consider his future.

Reus’s contract expires in 2019 and he’s publicly admitted he’d like to try a new league so it doesn’t sound like he’s ready to commit himself to Dortmund by signing what will be his last big contract.

TeamTalk claim that Arsenal are now eyeing a summer swoop for the German attacker and due to his contract situation, Dortmund may be willing to cash-in at around £44.3m [€50m].

That sort of money in today’s market would be a great deal for a player of Reus’s quality [if he could stay fit] and he’d be reunited with former team mates Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang if he did come to Arsenal.

An attack of Reus, Mkhitaryan and Mesut Ozil behind Aubameyang would be a match for any side in Europe so we’d just have to fix our keeper, defence and midfield and we’d be sorted!

However, we aren’t the only team in the running as the report says Manchester United and AC Milan are also tracking Reus so we’ll face stiff competition for his signature.
