Wilshere replacement? Arsenal plotting ambitious swoop for Serie A midfielder

According to a report by MSN, Arsenal are plotting an ambitious swoop for Napoli midfielder Allan as we look to reshape our options in the middle of the park this summer.

If he can hold on to his job, Arsene Wenger is going to be under pressure to rebuild following a disastrous campaign and a new central midfielder is going to be a priority.

Jack Wilshere is now being tipped to leave after failing to sign a new deal while Aaron Ramsey’s long-term future is also in doubt as he’s approaching the final year of his contract.

In addition, Granit Xhaka has been a poor signing and we didn’t replace Francis Coquelin in January so it’s safe to say we need to sign at least one central midfielder this summer.

It  looks like we’re lining-up some targets as MSN are citing a report from the Mirror that claims Arsenal are plotting a swoop for Napoli star Allan at the end of the season.

The Brazilian midfielder has been in excellent form for Napoli and he’s played a key part in their hunt for the Serie A title this season with 40 appearances in all competition so far.

The report says we’ve registered our interest in signing the 27-year-old and I’d love to see Allan come to north London this summer as I think he’d be a quality addition to the squad.

However, Allan is contracted until 2023 and no doubt Napoli will be extremely reluctant to sell. Plus, why would the midfielder want to leave? Maurizio Sarri has Napoli playing some of the best football in Europe and they’ll certainly be in the Champions League next year so I’d be surprised if anything came of this.
