44-year-old signs contract to replace Wenger as Arsenal manager this summer

By on March 26, 2018

According to reports in Germany via talkSPORT, former Borussia Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel has signed a contract to replace Arsene Wenger as Arsenal manager this summer.

Wenger has come under increasing pressure to end his stay at the Emirates following another disappointing campaign that is destined to see us miss out on the top four for the second consecutive year.

Even success in the Europa League might not be enough to keep the long-serving Frenchman in a job with the vast majority of Arsenal fans feeling it’s time he ended his 22-year reign in north London.

Several candidates have been linked in the media to replace Arsene but Tuchel has emerged as the front runner with the 44-year-old currently out of work since leaving Dortmund last May.

TalkSPORT are now citing a sensational report from Kicker who claim Tuchel has agreed a deal to become Arsenal’s new manager and has already signed a contract to take over from Wenger at the end of the season.

If true, it would be an exciting appointment as Tuchel is a relatively young coach who loves to play attractive football so on the face of it he’d be an excellent replacement for Wenger.

However, many fans are surprised by these reports given Tuchel’s public fall-out with Sven Mislintat during their time at Dortmund so it’s difficult to see the pair working together again so soon in London.

Plus, contrasting reports last night suggested that Tuchel is close to agreeing a deal with Paris Saint-Germain to replace Unai Emery while Chelsea have also been touted as a possible destination.

So I wouldn’t be getting too excited about these ‘Tuchel to Arsenal’ stories just yet.
