Arsenal looking to sign prolific £50m attacker as club chiefs step-up interest
According to the Sun, Arsenal are targetting the signing of Nabil Fekir and have stepped-up our interest in the £50m-rated Lyon attacker ahead of the summer.
Fekir has long been linked with a move to the Emirates as Arsene Wenger is known to be a huge fan of the French international’s having tracked him since he joined Lyon in 2013.
Obviously Wenger will step down as manager at the end of the season but the Sun says club chiefs still see Fekir as a key target and are hoping to finally sign him this summer.
The 24-year-old is enjoying another superb campaign in France as he’s provided 22 goals and 7 assists in his 37 appearances in all competitions making him one of the most prolific attacking players around.
Fekir’s form is expected to see him named in Dider Deschamps’ France squad for this summers World Cup finals but it’s also persuaded Arsenal to step-up their interest in luring him to the Emirates.
The Sun says Arsenal are targetting a deal after sending scouts to watch him last month but we’ll have to go close to breaking our transfer record as the paper says Lyon value Fekir at around £50m.
He has just over two years left on his contract so we might be able to drive the price down a little as his value will drop considerably if he stays another year without signing an extension but we’ll still have to pay a significant transfer fee.
Fekir is predominantly an attacking midfielder but he can play on the wing or even up front so he’d give our new manager plenty of options in the final third if we were successful in bringing him to north London.
The players agent confirmed earlier this year that Fekir was eyeing a move to one of Europe’s top clubs so fingers crossed we can lure him to the Emirates as I think he’d be an excellent addition to the squad.
