Some great news to bring you today as Santi Cazorla has returned to full training after 19 months on the sidelines with a serious Achilles injury.

Cazorla has been on the sidelines since suffering an Achilles injury during Arsenal’s 6-0 victory over Ludogorets in the group stages of the Champions League back in October 2016.

The 33-year-old has endured a torrid time as he’s been forced to undergo nine separate operations and he even had to have a skin graft from his arm to heal the wound after it became infected.

There were even fears Cazorla may have to have his foot amputated if the treatment didn’t work but thankfully he’s been on the road to recovery in recent months.

We saw him training on his own ahead of our Europa League semi-final first leg at the Emirates last week and now it looks like the midfielder has stepped up his rehabilitation programme as Santi has been photographed training with the rest of the first team at London Colney this afternoon.

The boys are preparing for tomorrow’s game against Burnley at the Emirates but there is virtually no chance Cazorla will play any part in Arsene Wenger’s final home game as manager.

The Spaniard has suggested he wants to play again before the end of the season but it remains to be seen whether he’ll be deemed fit enough to feature against Leicester or Huddersfield.
