Arsenal in battle to sign 23-year-old star as Emery kicks-off summer revamp

According to talkSPORT, Arsenal are facing a fierce battle with Napoli, Tottenham and Juventus to sign Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot this summer.

New boss Unai Emery is wasting no time in trying to revamp the squad he inherited from Arsene Wenger with widespread reports suggesting we’re close to signing Stephan Lichtsteiner from Juventus.

A new central midfielder is also on the agenda as Santi Cazorla has left the club while Jack Wilshere could be set to follow out the exit door after failing to agree terms over a new deal.

Rabiot has long been linked with a move to the Emirates and the rumours resurfaced last week with the Mirror reporting that Emery was ready to raid his former club to sign the 23-year-old this summer.

The Frenchman was surprisingly left out of Didier Deschamps squad for this summers World Cup finals and it’s sparked rumours the midfielder is now looking to leave in search of regular football.

Rabiot did make 40 appearances for PSG last season to help them win the domestic treble but many of them came from the bench and it seems he’s growing tired of his bit-part role in Paris.

I think Rabiot would be a superb signing and he shouldn’t cost too much as he only has one year left on his contract so PSG will have to cash-in this summer if he doesn’t sign an extension.

However, understandably, we aren’t the only club showing a keen interest as talkSPORT are citing a report from CalcioNapoli24 that claims Napoli, Tottenham and Juventus are also battling Arsenal over Rabiot’s signature.

I’d love to see us win the race but my concern is whether Emery would be able to persuade Rabiot to join him at Arsenal having failed to see him as a key player during their time together at PSG.

If he wasn’t a regular in France, why would Rabiot think it would be any different at Arsenal? The simple answer is he wouldn’t face the same level of competition in north London but it remains to be seen whether the player will see it that way.
