Arsenal to table formal £50m bid after holding talks with agent

By on May 27, 2018

According to a report by TeamTalk, Arsenal are set to table a formal £50m offer for RB Leipzig winger Emil Forsberg after holding talks with his agent about a possible move to north London.

New boss Unai Emery and head of recruitment Sven Mislintat are pressing ahead with our summer transfer business and a new wide-man is seemingly a priority.

Forsberg has been linked with a move to Arsenal ever since he left Malmo to join RB Leipzig in January 2015 and our interest has strengthened following an impressive two-and-a-half years in Germany.

It looks like we’re ready to formalise our pursuit as TeamTalk are citing a report from Expressen that claims Arsenal will submit a £50m offer to Leipzig in the coming days.

The Swedish publication says Leipzig are reluctant to lose one of their key men and are hoping to tie Forsberg down to a new long-term contract despite the fact he penned fresh terms just over a year ago.

However, a serious offer from Arsenal could be tempting for the Bundesliga outfit and the Swedish international hinted he may be on the move this summer after tweeting ‘thanks for everything’ after being sent off in his final game of last season.

The dismissal sparked a furious outburst from the 26-year-old’s agent over his treatment in Germany and TeamTalk claim that Forsberg’s representative Hasan Cetinkaya has been in talks with interested clubs about a move in recent weeks.

It seems Arsenal are hoping to steal a march on our rivals, who reportedly include Liverpool, by tabling a big-money offer but we’ll have to wait and see whether £50m will be enough to tempt Leipzig in to a sale.

I’ve said for some time that Arsenal’s current squad lacks any natural width and Forsberg would certainly solve that particular issue so I think he’d be an excellent addition if we can lure him to the Emirates.
