Talks underway: Arsenal discussing deal to sign exciting £35m attacker

By on July 5, 2018

According to reports via talkSPORT, Arsenal have opened talks with Hirving Lozano’s agent about a possible move to north London from PSV Eindhoven this summer.

Unai Emery has already snapped-up goalkeeper Bernd Leno, centre-back Sokratis Papastathopoulos and right-back Stephan Lichtsteiner this summer while a deal for defensive midfielder Lucas Torreira is also reportedly close to completion.

However, the Arsenal boss is also hoping to sign another attacker and our lack of width is something I highlighted throughout last season so it’s good to hear Emery is on the market for a new winger.

We’ve been linked with a number of players in recent weeks but Lozano has emerged as a target with talkSPORT citing reports from Italy as claiming that Arsenal have opened talks with his agent about a possible move to the Emirates.

TeamTalk also carry a report from Holland that says we’ve made an approach to Lozano’s representatives to see if the £35m-rated Mexican international is open to a switch to north London so the speculation is certainly mounting.

Lozano only joined PSV in a £7m deal from Pachuca last summer but he enjoyed a superb debut season in Europe after providing 19 goals and 11 assists in his 34 appearances to win the Eredivisie title last year.

The 22-year-old’s reputation was enhanced further with some impressive displays for Mexico at the World Cup finals where they progressed through the group stages before being knocked out by Brazil.

No doubt other clubs have sat up and taken notice of his potential following his performances in Russia but I think Lozano would be an exciting addition to the squad if Arsenal could win the race for his signature.

He’s capable of playing on either wing or even in the middle so his versatility would be a huge asset and he’s clearly a goal threat as his stats from last year with PSV prove.

However, PSV are under no pressure to sell as Lozano has five years left on his contract so it’s understandable they reportedly value him at around £35m. Would Arsenal pay that for him? I’m not too sure….
