Arsenal transfer news: Offer accepted for Gunners outcast – striker deal also agreed

It looks like Unai Emery has started to trim his squad as David Ospina and Chuba Akpom look set to leave Arsenal over the coming days – if reports are accurate.

Ospina’s future at the Emirates has been in serious doubt after he fell down the pecking order following Bernd Leno’s arrival from Bayer Leverkusen this summer.

The Colombian international has been forced to play second fiddle to Petr Cech in recent years but Leno has been drafted in as our new No.1 which means Ospina has been demoted even further.

The 29-year-old needs to be playing regularly and a move to Turkey is now on the cards as Turkish outlet Takvim claims Besiktas have opened talks with Arsenal after identifying Ospina as a prime target.

It’s reported that Besiktas have now seen a £1.3m offer accepted to take the goalkeeper on loan for the coming season and Ospina is set to replace Fabri following his move to Fulham.

It makes total sense for the South American stopper to leave as he’s never been good enough to be Arsenal’s first choice keeper. My only issue is this is a loan deal and not a permanent move as we’ll be back to square one in 12 months time.

Akpom on the move

Emery needs to offload several players over the coming days but it looks like a second exit is on the cards as Goal claim Akpom is on the verge of joining PAOK.

The 22-year-old has been on our books since he was a kid but he’s struggled to force his way in to the first team and has made just 12 first team appearances for the club.

Akpom has spent time out on loan but it looks like Emery has made it clear he’s not part of his plans and Goal says a deal worth around £2m has been agreed for the striker to join PAOK on a permanent basis.

With Pierre-Emerick Aubamyenag and Alexandre Lacazette vying for the starting position up front and the likes of Danny Welbeck and Lucas Perez also ahead of him in the pecking order Akpom was going to struggle for game time this year.

The report says the young forward is due in Greece today to finalise the move so we should see both Akpom and Ospina secure transfers away from Arsenal over the coming days.
