Arsenal duo set to make debuts against Vorskla, 6 others also pushing for recalls

According to the Daily Mail, Lucas Torreira and Bernd Leno are set to make their full debuts during Arsenal’s Europa League group stage clash with Vorskla at the Emirates on Thursday night.

Torreira has yet to be handed his first start for the club since arriving from Sampdoria in a £26.4m deal this summer as he’s been restricted to making five substitute appearances so far.

The Uruguayan international has been hugely impressive off the bench, particularly in the last few games, leading to growing calls from the fans for him to start in the middle of the park.

Torreira was introduced at half-time against Newcastle United at the weekend and changed to game to help us leave with all three points and it seems Unai Emery is finally ready to give him the start he deserves.

The boss has given Torreira plenty of time to adjust to life in England but the Daily Mail says the South American will start against Vorskla in our Europa League group stage opener on Thursday night.

Emery is expected to make wholesale changes to his starting eleven and the newspaper says Leno is also set to be handed his debut having been left on the bench in the Premier League so far this season.

Leno arrived from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer and many assumed he would be installed as our new No.1 but Emery has so far stuck with Petr Cech – despite the 36-year-old struggling with the managers demands to play it out from the back.

However, we should get our first glimpse of Leno in an Arsenal shirt on Thursday night and I personally cannot wait to see the German in action as I think he should have been our first choice keeper in the league this season.

Stephan Lichtsteiner could be the third player to make his full debut as the Swiss international could replace Hector Bellerin at right-back while the likes of Rob Holding, Mohamed Elneny, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Alex Iwobi and Danny Welbeck are also pushing for recalls against Vorskla.
