Arsenal squad confirmed: 19y/o included as Gunners fly-out for Rennes clash
Arsenal have confirmed our 18-man squad as the players fly out to France ahead of Thursday evening’s Europa League last-16 first leg against Rennes.
Alexandre Lacazette is the major absentee as the French international hitman hasn’t made the trip due to suspension after being sent off in the last-32 first leg defeat to BATE Borisov last month.
In his place, Eddie Nketiah has been named in the squad and the 19-year-old is expected to be named on the bench with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang returning to start up front after being benched against Tottenham at the weekend.
Petr Cech has travelled to France and he’s likely to start in goal having featured throughout our Europa League campaign so far while Denis Suarez will also be hoping to get some much-needed game-time after struggling to establish himself following his January loan move from Barcelona.
The likes of Mesut Ozil, Aaron Ramsey, Sokratis and Laurent Koscielny have also made the trip while Lucas Torreira is expected to start tomorrow evening as he’s suspended for Sunday’s Premier League clash with Man Utd following his sending off at the weekend.
Ainsley Maitland-Niles has been included in the 18-man travelling squad ahead of Stephan Lichtsteiner so it will be interesting to see whether he comes in at right-back or if Shkodran Mustafi keeps his place.
