Unai Emery vs Arsene Wenger: What has changed for Arsenal?

The big question for Arsenal fans at this point of the season is: Are Arsenal different under Unai Emery if compared with the last few years of Arsene Wenger’s regime? We have asked the question to John Pentin who is a known tipping expert at a leading UK betting sites comparison website.

Arsenal looked rather impressive last week having defeated Manchester United with a clear 2-0 victory. That victory propelled Emery’s men two points clear of their visitors in the fourth position.

I think that there have been moments during this season when everyone has been saying: it is not different from last year. I don’t believe this is the case. First of all, the atmosphere at the Emirates Stadium has massively improved. If we take the games against Tottenham and Manchester United we can immediately see that the players were pushed by the public to give everything they had. This is a massive difference compared with the subdued atmosphere of the last few Wenger’s seasons.

There is a lot more energy in the team and this is undoubtedly down to Emery: in my view, he is achieving the maximum from his current group of players. There will be still bumps in the road but if they are able to do a couple of good transfer windows they are in the right track to get back where the Arsenal fans want them to be. They are in very good shape to finish in the top four and this will be a massive achievement for the club.

With Arsene Wenger in the last few years, even when Arsenal were playing well, they never had the stadium behind like they do now. There is great intensity in the stadium and the atmosphere is one of the best in England at the moment.

If we look at the strength of the squad, I believe Arsenal should probably finish in sixth place so the fact that they are in the fourth position is a clear reflection of the good job Emery is doing.

I also believe Unay Emery has improved over the last few months. He has looked at the Premier League and figure out that it is much more intense compared with the football he was used to. He has made changes at the back including replacing Petr Cech with Bernard Leno and the Gunners are a lot less vulnerable than in the first matches.

Generally, I am impressed by the work done by Unai Emery so far. He was tasked to get the most out of his group of players and he has done so. Surely they are not where they want to be yet but he needs time: if they buy a few players who can defend better and also be more creative I think he has everything to go a great job in North London. He is a man, I believe, that knows what he is doing.
