Granit Xhaka will be assessed ahead of Arsenal’s game against Wolves as Unai Emery faces being without up to six players for the trip to Molineux on Wednesday night.

The Switzerland international missed Sunday afternoon’s 3-2 defeat at home to Crystal Palace after the medical team deemed it would be too risky for him to feature due to a minor hip injury that forced him off against Napoli in the Europa League last week.

The club have now issued a team news update on Arsenal.com today and revealed that Xhaka will need to be assessed before a decision is made over his availability for tomorrow night’s trip to Wolves.

Emery will be praying Xhaka is passed fit as Aaron Ramsey is already out after suffering a hamstring injury last week and the Welshman is facing a couple of weeks on the sidelines.

Denis Suarez has also been ruled out of tomorrow’s clash with Wolves due to an on-going groin injury so the Spaniard’s nightmare loan spell at the Emirates continues.

With Hector Bellerin, Rob Holding and Danny Welbeck all still working their way back to fitness following season-ending injuries, it means Emery will be without six players against Wolves if Xhaka fails his late fitness test.

Here is what the update on Arsenal.com said:

Granit Xhaka
Hip. Being assessed ahead of Wednesday’s match at Wolves.

Aaron Ramsey
Left hamstring. Continues to receive treatment and further assessment. Will miss Wednesday’s match at Wolves.

Denis Suarez
Groin. Continues to receive treatment and further assessment. Will miss Wednesday’s match at Wolves.

Hector Bellerin
Left knee. Continuing with gym based rehabilitation and strengthening post-surgery.

Rob Holding
Left knee. Progressing through end stages of gym rehabilitation and conditioning.

Danny Welbeck
Right ankle. Started on-field rehabilitation, conditioning and ball work.

Arsenal desperately need to get back to winning ways tomorrow after slumping to that shock defeat at home to Palace at the weekend. Thankfully none of our top four rivals won over the weekend so Arsenal can climb back above Chelsea into the top four with a win at Molineux on Wednesday night.

Xhaka’s availability is vital as we looked vulnerable in the middle of the park against Park. The Mohamed Elneny-Matteo Guendouzi partnership just doesn’t work so hopefully we see Lucas Torreira recalled along with Xhaka tomorrow.
