[Photo] New signings travel as Arsenal squad share photo on plane en route to Barcelona
The Arsenal players have posed for a photo on the plane as the squad flew-out to Spain this afternoon ahead of our clash with Barcelona in the Joan Gamper Trophy at the Nou Camp this evening.
Summer signing Dani Ceballos has travelled for the game after being rested for the draw at Angers while Gabriel Martinelli could get another chance to impress as he’s also in the squad to face the La Liga giants.
Lucas Torreira, Emi Martinez, Calum Chambers, Nacho Monreal, Granit Xhaka, Bernd Leno, Matteo Guendouzi, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Bukayo Saka are also confirmed to be in the squad.
Eddie Nketiah looks to be seated behind Xhaka while it appears new record signing Nicolas Pepe is sitting behind Chambers – although it could be Ainsley Maitland-Niles. The Evening Standard claims Pepe has travelled so hopefully we see him in action at some point as fans are eager to see him in Arsenal colours for the first time following his £72m move.
I can’t see Alexandre Lacazette among the players in the photo so he may not have been risked after picking up an ankle injury against Lyon in the Emirates Cup last weekend.
Mesut Ozil and Sead Kolasinac are believed to have travelled as they look to get back on the field following their car jacking horror late last month but there is no sign of Mohamed Elneny as he looks to be on his way out of the club.
Obviously Laurent Koscielny won’t be involved against Barcelona tonight as he continues to try and force a move back to France so I expect Xhaka will have the captains armband this evening.
This will be Arsenal’s final pre-season game before the Premier League returns with a tough trip to Newcastle United next weekend so hopefully we see a solid performance against Barcelona tonight.
