Can New Signings Guide The Gunners Back to the Promised Land?

It’s been a busy summer for the Gunners. Unai Emery has made several new additions to his squad. There’s a positive buzz around the Emirates for the first time in a long time. Today, we’ll analyze the impact that Emery’s new signings could potentially have on the Premier League.

The Spanish tactician has added Nicolas Pepe, Kieran Tierney, David Luiz, Gabriel Martinelli, and Dani Ceballos to his ranks. In terms of departures, Alex Iwobi joined Everton in a £27 million deal, and ex-captain Laurent Koscielny controversially forced through a move to Ligue 1 side Bordeaux.

It’s been a disappointing few years for the Arsenal faithful. The fans are desperate to see their team play in the Champions League and compete with the best teams in the country once again.

Arsenal look particularly potent in attack. Aubameyang and Lacazette were involved in 66 goals last season. This lead Emery’s men to the Europa League Final and secured a 5th place finish in the Premier League. Similarly, record signing Nicolas Pepe scored 22 goals for French side Lille and created 11 more on top of that.

Dani Ceballos has also been sublime since he made his debut. The Spanish midfielder is on loan from Real Madrid until the end of the season. Ceballos is comfortable on the ball and can create chances in the blink of an eye. He certainly looks ready to fill the void left by Aaron Ramsey.

Arsenal’s main problem last year was their leaky defence. It looked like anyone could score past them at any given moment. It was nothing short of chaotic at times. However, the additions of Kieran Tierney and David Luiz should help sort that issue out. Both players are solid at the back and are dangerous going forward.

The only other point of concern for the Gunners is their squad depth. If a key player gets injured, who will come in as an effective replacement? There’s no doubt about Mesut Ozil’s ability, but as we all know, he tends to go missing when it really matters.

Final Verdict

With European and domestic competitions to consider, Emery will need to rotate his squad. However, if he can keep Abuameyang fit and firing on all cylinders, we reckon Arsenal have a fantastic chance of breaking back into the top four.

The Gabon international put in a string of electric performances last season which saw him walk away with the Premier League Golden Boot. The good news is that he’s picked up exactly where he left off with two goals in two games so far.

Overall, the team looks more compact and solid. The defensive frailties have finally been addressed, which is music to every Arsenal fan’s ears. Strap yourselves in and get ready for another turbulent season. The stage is set for it to be a great one for the Gunners.
