Injury boosts make Arsenal favourites to beat Watford on Sunday
Arsenal have received a number of injury boosts meaning they are favourites to see-off Watford at Vicarage Road on Sunday afternoon. Unai Emery’s side have a good record against the Hornets and many bookies have Arsenal as the even money favourites to collect all three points this weekend with Watford priced at 11/4. Those odds should tempt bettors to the market and savvy punters will use a betin promo code to ensure they make the most of their money.
Emery has had several concerns to worry about in recent weeks which have hampered performances but the injury woes are easing with several players returning to full training.
A team news update on Arsenal.com confirmed that Rob Holding is available for selection again after he resumed full training having overcome a knee ligament injury that’s kept him on the sidelines for nine months. Holding was a key player for Emery before his injury back in December 2018 so his return to fitness is a big boost and he should help sort out our leaky defence.
Our back four should look significantly different over the coming weeks as Hector Bellerin and Kieran Tierney are also close to making their comebacks from serious injuries after returning to full training. Bellerin has been out since damaging knee ligaments in January while Tierney arrived from Celtic with a groin problem but they are now back in training and on the verge of making the first team returns.
I don’t think Tierney will be rushed back to face Watford on Sunday while Bellerin will no doubt need some game-time with the U23s before he’s considered available for selection by Emery but our first choice full-backs will be major additions to the team once they are fully fit.
Arsenal have also been boosted with the news that Joe Willock is fit to face Watford on Sunday despite pulling out of the England U21 squad with a calf injury. The midfielder has trained fully this week and is in contention to take on the Hornets.
Granit Xhaka is also expected to be available despite aggravating a niggling Achilles injury while playing for Switzerland during the international break while Lucas Torreira is likely to overcome a knock that he picked up during Uruguay’s win over Costa Rica last weekend.
The midfield trio’s availability means Emery has a strong squad to choose from at Vicarage Road on Sunday and Arsenal should be confident of coming away with all three points against a Watford side that sit bottom of the table.
Emery now has every first team player in full training for the first time in months and the return of Holding, Bellerin and Tierney will hugely improve Arsenal’s defence – which has been our Achilles heel for several years – so things are certainly looking more positive on the injury front.
