[Tweets] Bellerin, Tierney & Holding react on Twitter after making Arsenal comebacks
Hector Bellerin, Kieran Tierney and Rob Holding have all reacted on Twitter after making their long-awaited injury comebacks during Arsenal’s 5-0 Carabao Cup win over Nottingham Forest.
We welcomed the Championship side to the Emirates on Tuesday night and, as expected, Unai Emery made a number of changes to his starting eleven with the game played just 48 hours after our Premier League win over Aston Villa.
Holding was handed his first start of 2019 after recovering from a knee ligament injury and he put-in an excellent performance. The centre-back was an assured presence in defence and scored the second goal during an impressive victory just seconds after being given the armband following Mesut Ozil’s substitution.
Tierney made his debut for Arsenal having arrived from Celtic on deadline day last month carrying a groin injury and the Scottish international gave us a taste of what’s to come with a superb performance during his 77 minutes on the pitch.
Bellerin wasn’t deemed ready to start having only played 62 minutes of football for the U23s since damaging his knee ligaments back in January but the Spaniard looked sharp during his 15 minute cameo having grabbed an assist after replacing Tierney in the 77th minute.
It’s a massive boost to have these three available again and they should make a huge difference to the Arsenal defence once they are all ready to start. I’d definitely start Holding against Man Utd on Monday while I’d be tempted to stick with Tierney at left-back as he’s a big upgrade on Sead Kolasinac.
Bellerin may need a bit more time to build-up his match fitness before he’s ready to start so I don’t see him featuring at Old Trafford but it’s still a huge boost to see him back on the pitch last night.
Holding, Tierney and Bellerin all took to Twitter after the game last night to express their delight at making their first team comebacks. Check out what they had to say here:
