Arsenal team news update: 3 players could return for Norwich clash
Arsenal could have at least three of their injured players back for Wednesday night’s Premier League clash with Norwich City.
Mikel Arteta has been dealing with a crippling injury list in recent months but Lucas Torreira is on the verge of being in contention again after returning to full training having overcome an ankle injury. The Uruguayan international will be assessed before his availability for tomorrow’s game is known but it will be a big boost to have him back.
Mesut Ozil hasn’t featured since the restart and missed the FA Cup win over Sheffield United at the weekend due to a minor back injury but he will also be given a late fitness test to see if he’ll be available to return against Norwich.
One player who has been declared fit is Cedric Soares and the defender could make his long-awaited Arsenal debut after recovering from a broken nose so Arteta could have three players back in the squad tomorrow evening.
David Luiz limped off against Sheffield United on Sunday with a knee issue and the Brazilian is still being assessed to see if he’ll be available on Wednesday but obviously Pablo Mari won’t feature as he’s been ruled out for up to three months with an ankle injury.
Bernd Leno is also unlikely to play again this season after suffering a knee injury against Brighton while Gabriel Martinelli and Calum Chambers are also on the long-term injury list so we still have plenty of players on the treatment table.
